Brisbane Upper GI Surgery is a specialist Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery practice run by Dr Ben Dodd. We aim to provide high quality patient counselling and evidence based surgical management of all Upper GI conditions, focussed on bariatric surgery, reflux disease and gallstones/gallbladder disease. Ben has a particular interest in minimising surgical complications and pain so that patient's may have the most positive surgical experience possible.
Brisbane Upper GI Surgery is based at Chermside Medical Centre, Suite 11, Level 2, 956 Gympie Road, Chermside, Qld, 4032. Weekly clinics are also conducted at The Wesley Hospital, Suite 75, Level 3, Sandford Jackson Building, 30 Chasely Street, Auchenflower, 4066.
- Dr Ben Dodd
Ben is actively involved in the teaching of surgical trainees at the Royal Brisbane. He actively contributes to Upper GI/Bariatric Surgery research projects and service improvements.
Dr Dodd can promptly see new patients and arrange further investigations, as indicated. Ben has advanced training in laparoscopic Upper GI cancer surgery and revisional bariatric surgery. He has a particular interest in advancing Upper GI laparoscopic surgical techniques and improving the patient experience through employment of enhanced recovery techniques. He has strong professional relationships with Nursing Staff, Dieticians, Psychologists, Oncologists and Gastroenterologists ensuring patients benefit from multidisciplinary team care at all times.
For uninsured patients wishing to be treated publicly, your GP, Gastroenterologist or other specialist can make referrals directly to the Upper GI Surgery (Unit IV) Outpatient clinic at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
For uninsured patients wishing to have weight loss surgery, accessing your superannuation can be employed in appropriate cases. Please discuss with Dr Dodd.
